Biography
Born Sylvain Jacques Roger on November 15, 1980, DJ Roger is the eldest in his family. He completed his primary education at Collège Saint-Jean l’Évangéliste, then continued his studies at several institutions, including Collège Saint-Louis de Gonzague, Collège La Renaissance, and Collège Frantz Pallère.
Roger is married and a devout Catholic. He believes strongly in progress and rejects anarchy and laziness. He is also a successful entrepreneur, serving as CEO of several businesses in the capital, including Roger Sound, DJ Roger Entertainment, and Delmas Muzik Group (DMG).
Music has always been a vital part of Roger’s journey. Inspired by the legendary DJ Fanfan, he spent years—between 1998 and 2000—closely observing his live performances to learn the craft.
From 2000 to 2002, Roger began performing at local recreational events, eager to pursue his passion and build his own signature sound. In 2002, he met David Dupoux and officially became the DJ for the group Kompa Kreyòl for two years.
In 2005, he joined forces with T-Joe and the band Kreyòl La, beginning another exciting chapter in his career.
By 2016, Roger became the DJ for Roody Roodboy and Hype Man, and in 2017, they won the Port-au-Prince Carnival Championship.
The year 2018 marked a major milestone for Roger. Seeking to expand his creative reach and solidify his reputation, he launched a project that led to the release of his first track, “Party a Cho”, a blend of Rabòday and Afro beats, featuring Kenny, Mikaben, and Roody Roodboy. Shortly after, he followed up with the Trap Kreyòl hit “Souke”, alongside Steves J Bryan and Bigfa.
In 2019, he returned with the song “All About You”, a collaboration with Medjy Enposib and Rayy Raymond. Even during the pandemic in 2021, DJ Roger kept pushing boundaries with the release of “DEMARE”, featuring Badikamal and Trak, showcasing his versatility as a producer.
Today, DJ Roger is proud to be one of the featured artists under the Apache World Music (AWM) label, joining forces with fellow creatives who share his vision of elevating Haitian music on the global stage. Through his partnership with AWM, Roger continues to explore new musical horizons while helping to promote and preserve Haiti’s rich cultural heritage.
For DJ Roger, music is life—a force that helps him grow, conquer fear, and move forward. It remains his most powerful weapon, and through Apache World Music, he now has an even bigger platform to share his sound with the world.
